Peninsula London: What we know so far

Perched majestically at Hyde Park Corner, The Peninsula London is a striking new addition to the city's luxury hotel scene. This spectacular hotel emerges from the joint efforts of esteemed British artisans, standing tall in one of London's most exclusive locales. Designed by Hopkins Architects, the structure beautifully complements the area's historic architecture while ushering in a modern, spacious aesthetic, bathed in natural light.

The hotel revolves around a spacious off-street courtyard - a tranquil oasis in the heart of Belgravia - masterfully designed by renowned landscape artist Enzo Enea. Picture a classic English garden adorned with cascading ivy, wisteria vines, and two 120-year-old Japanese maples - the oldest of their kind in Europe. This cobblestone courtyard allows guests to arrive discreetly, stepping out of one of the hotel's exquisite fleet vehicles, ranging from custom hybrid Bentley Bentaygas to a restored 1935 Rolls Royce Phantom.

Interior spaces, from the hotel’s elegant rooms and suites to the public areas, showcase lavish designs by architect Peter Marino, boasting bespoke creations from top British artisans including Jenny Packham, Claude Bosi, Timothy Han and over 40 artists from The Royal Drawing School. Buckingham Palace, Wellington Arch, The Royal Parks and Harrods are just a stone's throw away from its Grosvenor Place entrance.

"We are excited to introduce The Peninsula London to the world. This represents a significant milestone for our group as a long-term investor and owner operator," says Clement Kwok, CEO of The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Ltd. "The Belgravia neighbourhood perfectly aligns with our commitment to providing an exceptional standard of elegance and luxury."

The Peninsula London houses 190 lavishly styled guest rooms and suites, along with 25 opulent luxury residences. Exclusively designed by Peter Marino, many accommodations offer captivating views of Buckingham Palace Gardens, Wellington Arch, and historic Belgravia. Bespoke furnishings, textiles, and artworks, coupled with mahogany-panelled dressing rooms and spacious honey onyx bathrooms, offer the ultimate in British luxury.

For private gatherings, the hotel's grand St. George Ballroom accommodates up to 450 banquet guests, while a collection of versatile conference rooms and a private cinema provide tailored event spaces, all equipped with cutting-edge technology and impeccable service.

The Peninsula London’s sophisticated culinary scene will be a delight for gourmets. Its rooftop restaurant, Brooklands, will serve contemporary European cuisine prepared by a Michelin-starred culinary team in a unique setting inspired by the classic eras of British aviation and motorsport. Ground-floor Chinese restaurant Canton Blue celebrates the fusion of Asian and British cultures with innovative dishes by Chef Dicky To, in an environment inspired by historical trading vessels.

Relaxation and wellness choices abound for guests at The Peninsula London. These include an array of mind-body therapies at The Peninsula Spa and Wellness Centre, comprehensive workout programmes at the modern fitness centre, and swimming in a dramatically lit 25-m indoor pool.

The hotel’s British aesthetic is curated through special collaborations with the country’s most acclaimed artists and creators, with design elements and amenities exclusively created for discerning guests.

"We are excited to have enlisted the talents of these extraordinary 'Best of British' creators and suppliers to collaborate on important touchpoints throughout the hotel," said Sonja Vodusek, Managing Director of The Peninsula London.

Notable partners include fashion designer Jenny Packham, Michelin-starred chef Claude Bosi, perfumier Timothy Han, and over 40 artists from The Royal Drawing School, among others. Innovative AgTech company Zero Carbon Farms will supply purpose-grown salad greens and herbs to the hotel’s food outlets from its sustainable farm.

Renowned designer Richard Brendon, who established his brand in the charming district of Notting Hill, London, in 2013, is recognized for his ability to meld artistic style with practical function in his creations of bone china and crystal. Leveraging age-old craft techniques, his designs have earned the admiration of many global culinary and beverage connoisseurs.
